5 Miami Fishing Piers to Visit This Year

You might be ready to visit a warm weather destination where you can
easily wet a line from a local fishing pier. If this is the case, take
note that there are some great Miami fishing piers that offer angling
opportunities for the whole family.
No matter your level of fishing experience, you can grab an inshore
saltwater spinning combo and fish with live or artificial baits from
these easily accessible pier fishing spots. Pier fishing in Miami can
mean catching species like black drum, red drum, spotted seatrout, and
mangrove snapper.
Picture sandy beaches, blue shimmering waves, and the fun of feeling
those tugs at the end of your line. It's not hard to turn your fishing
daydreams into reality. Consider making plans to visit one of these five
Miami fishing piers this winter.
Where to go Pier Fishing in Miami
Fishing from one of these Miami-area piers can be a great outdoor vacation activity for the family, just be sure to check the Florida fishing regulations before you go.
1. Oleta River State Park Fishing Pier
Oleta River State Park borders the Intracoastal Waterway in North
Miami. This spot tends to be a family favorite due to amenities like
picnic pavilions, restrooms, and a kayak launch. In addition to pier
fishing, you can fish from the shores of the park along the Intracoastal
Waterway that borders the eastern boundary of the park.
2. Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park Fishing
This Miami park is located on the southern end of Key Biscayne. While
there is no fishing pier per se, many visitors stop here to see the
historic lighthouse that was built in 1825, and then fish along the
seawalls on the bay side of the park. When you're ready for a lunch
break, there are also 18 shaded picnic pavilions available for public
use.
3. William Lehman Park Fishing Pier
Another favorite pier fishing inMiami is William Lehman Park Fishing
Pier off of North Bayshore Drive. The pier was recently renovated to
include monofilament line recycling tubes and bait cutting stations.
When the bite slows down you can take the family on a stroll along the
wooden boardwalk while taking in views of the Intracoastal Waterway and
Miami Beach.
4. Newport Fishing Pier
Located on the ocean at Sunny Isles Beach Boulevard and Collins
Avenue, the Newport Fishing Pier stretches out over a half of a mile
into the ocean, making this Miami fishing pier one of the best spots to
wet a line The pier is open to the public for fishing at a nominal daily
fee. There are restrooms, showers, and metered public parking spaces
available.
5. Rickenbacker Causeway Fishing Pier
The Rickenbacker Causeway Fishing Pier is often cited as one of the
most popular Miami Beach fishing spots due to its close proximity to the
city. There is a parking lot located to the right of the road as you
drive over the first large bridge from the city. After parking, you'll
see a gangway along the side of the causeway. You can walk along the
gangway and cast near rock piles or other types of structure that are
likely to hold fish.
